Unsnap The Advice Trap
Keep the Caring, Stop the Strain
Emotionally charged conversations are part of everyday healthcare. Done well, they build trust and confidence. Done badly, they can leave everyone drained.
Unsnap The Advice Trap is a short, practice-based training for healthcare teams. It introduces Clean Language, an evidence-based approach that helps people find clarity in their own words — without pressure, fixing, or emotional overload.
Who is this for?
Suitable for GPs, nurses, health coaches, social prescribers, care coordinators, allied health professionals, community health workers, and peer supporters working in primary and community care settings, including integrated or multidisciplinary teams.
Already gaining momentum in UK health and care, Clean Language has been:
● Featured in Nursing Standard
● Written up in BMJ Open Quality by a hospital consultant
● Adopted by hospice professionals through the South West End of Life Network
Feedback from NHS pilots and national awareness week tasters shows strong impact for patients, families, staff, and volunteers alike.

Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Safeguarding
Unsnap The Advice Trap is designed with inclusivity and safety at its core.
● Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: Clean Language explicitly avoids assumptions about background, culture, or identity. By working with each person’s own words and meanings, it supports culturally responsive, neurodiverse, trauma-informed and literacy-aware communication. All scenarios are drawn from diverse health and care settings.
● Safeguarding: The approach strengthens professional boundaries by reducing over-involvement, while increasing sensitivity to what may be unsaid. Learners are equipped with power-aware communication skills that help maintain trust, clarity and psychological safety in difficult conversations.
