Primary Care Nurses. This course is most suitable for those who are initiating or reissuing contraception.
We are very excited to be offering this Contraception Update to our Learning and Development Centre catalogue! This has been kindly produced and will be delivered by Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare registered trainer, Dr Jane Davis.
Course Aims:
To build on the basic overview of current best practice in provision of contraception within Primary Care. An opportunity for learners to apply their knowledge to clinical scenarios and to discuss anonymised case studies.
(NB. this course does not provide a qualification for delivering contraceptive services, for further clinical training please visit www.fsrh.org)
By the end of this session, learners will be able to:
1. Know the latest updates in current contraceptive choices
2. Feel confident trouble shooting common contraceptive problems.
3. Practice within own level of professional competence and refer as needed.
Course Outline:
• Icebreaker – who are you, where do you practice and what do you need to get out of today’s session (tailoring the teaching to the expertise within the group)
• Hot topics in contraception (update using latest newsletters FSRH, PCWHF, RCOG) (20 – 30 min power point)
• Case studies (as a group or in break out rooms)
• Pulling it all together
• Agreeing on 3 key learning pints to take back to cascade with each Primary Care Team

12:15 - Case based discussions and Q and A
13:00 - Close meeting
